When the Tuileries Palace burned down in Paris in 1871, not all its stones vanished into the rubble. Some made the journey across France to Alata, in South Corsica, where they were used between 1883 and 1891 to build a Renaissance-style pavilion overlooking the Bay of Ajaccio: the Château de la Punta. A century and a half later, its southern façade has been restored to its former glory, following a €3.3 million project led by the Corsican Collectivity.
