Dispute over the construction crane at Sonnenberg Castle in Stettfurt, Switzerland
Schloss Sonnenberg: court orders removal of 13-year-old crane
In Thurgau, the administrative court has rejected the appeal of the Austrian owner of Sonnenberg Castle and ordered him to dismantle, within three months, the construction crane that has loomed over the building for more than thirteen years.

For over thirteen years, a construction crane has towered over Sonnenberg Castle in the Thurgovian village of Stettfurt, with no apparent progress on the works it was meant to serve. The Thurgau administrative court has now rejected the appeal of its owner, Austrian investor Christian Baha, and ordered its removal within three months, deeming his conduct unlawful. A decision that could finally bring to a close—or, conversely, prolong—one of the longest-running property sagas in a small Swiss canton.
