Divonne-les-Bains: a second blaze shuts the door on the five-star hotel dream
Nine years after a first blaze, the Château de Divonne-les-Bains was once again engulfed in flames on 28 June 2026, just months after the abandonment of the project that was to transform it into a five-star hotel.

On the evening of Sunday 28 June 2026, more than 70 French and Swiss firefighters, supported by around 30 vehicles, battled a blaze of rare intensity at the Château de Divonne-les-Bains in the Ain department. The roof and upper floors were reduced to ashes, almost nine years to the day after a first inferno had already ravaged the building in 2017.
