In the early hours of 24 to 25 September 2025, a fire destroyed around 80% of the roof and damaged 70% of the château de Médavy in Orne, despite the intervention of nearly 70 firefighters. A year later, this 15th- and 18th-century listed residence, owned by Jean-Louis and Béatrice Charon since 2004, is among the 18 iconic sites chosen for the 2026 Heritage Lottery, with tickets going on sale from September. A welcome boost for a £14 million reconstruction project.
