Weakened moats, bridges at risk of collapse: the 18th-century château d'Haroué in Meurthe-et-Moselle has been selected as one of 100 sites for the 2026 Loto du Patrimoine. Work is set to begin in 2027.

The moats and two access bridges of the château d'Haroué in Meurthe-et-Moselle are so weakened that they risk collapse, while its joinery is no longer watertight. Faced with these 'significant disorders threatening its preservation', the Fondation du patrimoine has included the château—nicknamed the 'Chambord of Lorraine'—among the 100 sites selected for the 2026 edition of the Loto du Patrimoine, announced at the end of August. Consolidation work is set to begin in the first half of 2027 and should be completed by the end of 2028.
