Val-d'Oise: Château de Vigny, saved from ruin in 2016, opens its doors
Purchased in 2016 as it teetered on the brink of collapse, this Renaissance château in Val-d'Oise, inspired by Chaumont-sur-Loire, will open its doors on 19 September 2026 to showcase a decade of restoration.

In 2016, Château de Vigny was on the verge of collapse: water damage, dry rot and decades of neglect had taken their toll on the roof and floors of this jewel of the French Early Renaissance. Purchased at the eleventh hour, the Val-d'Oise monument has since seen its façades, timber frames and sculpted details restored. On Saturday, 19 September 2026, from 10am to 6pm, a lecture followed by an exterior guided tour will highlight the progress made, free of charge but with limited places for 400 attendees.
