Fontainebleau revives Henri IV to better understand Louis XVI

Why did Louis XVI, on the eve of the Revolution, resurrect the figure of Henri IV? This is the question posed by "The Panache of the Lights", the new exhibition at Fontainebleau Castle, open to the public from 19 September 2026 until 25 January 2027. Centred around François-André Vincent’s historical cycle dedicated to Henri IV, it sheds light—by contrast—on the exhibition "Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI at Fontainebleau" already on display in the castle.
