Two towers at risk of collapse, a 17th-century rampart weakened by the elements: the Tour Castle in Prades, Tarn, has just been chosen among the sites supported by the 2026 Mission Patrimoine, alongside thirteen other monuments in Occitanie. Dating back to around 1000 AD as a motte-and-bailey castle, it was destroyed during the Albigensian Crusade before being rebuilt in the 15th century. The building endured the Wars of Religion before becoming, in 1738, the embellished residence of a Protestant family, the Dupuy du Tour. The exact amount of aid granted by the Fondation du patrimoine will only be known at the end of the year, but work, underway since 2024, has already begun.
